Our manicure classes are offered in structured formats designed for both beginners and experienced nail technicians who want focused, practical training. Each program combines step-by-step instruction with hands-on practice using real models, allowing students to build confidence, improve technique, and develop consistent professional results in a supportive environment.

The Soft Gel Tips Nail Extension Course is a one-day intensive workshop designed for students who want to learn the fundamentals of the Russian manicure technique while mastering the application of soft gel tips for natural-looking nail extensions.
This course is ideal for both beginners and nail technicians with previous experience who want to add one of today’s most in-demand services to their menu. As part of our broader gel nail training program, students receive an introduction to the Russian manicure technique, observe a live demonstration, and complete one supervised live-model session.
Students who would like to master the complete Russian Manicure technique — including structured gel strengthening, precise cuticle work, gel polish application, basic nail art, and advanced practical training — are encouraged to continue with the full three-day Russian Manicure Foundation Course.
Note: This course focuses on Soft Gel Tips extensions and is not a state licensing program. It is skill-specific training providing professional certification.
As part of Why Not Nails’ broader gel nail education offerings, this course is also a strong entry point if you’re exploring gel nail training for the first time.

– Natural-Looking Result — a lightweight extension that follows the shape of the natural nail
– Efficient to Apply — a streamlined process compared to sculpted acrylic or hard gel forms
– Cleaner Extension Process — no acrylic powder or liquid system, with less odor than traditional acrylic application
– In-Demand Service — a popular extension option you can add to your service menu

Application: Soft Gel Tips are pre-shaped and applied over the natural nail, while acrylic and sculpted hard gel extensions require the technician to build and shape the extension.
Product System: Soft Gel Tips use a gel-based application and curing process, without the acrylic powder and liquid monomer system.
Finished shape: the pre-formed tip provides a consistent base shape, which the technician then refines and blends.
Where it fits in a service menu: soft gel tips are a common option for clients who want a natural-looking extension without a fully sculpted acrylic system.

Soft Gel Tips are pre-shaped and applied over the natural nail, while acrylic and sculpted hard gel extensions require the technician to build and shape the extension by hand. Each has a different application process and suits different client requests — the course covers where Soft Gel Tips fit into a salon service menu.
Soft Gel Tips and Gel-X-style extensions use a similar full-cover soft gel tip concept, and many students search for this course as a “gel x xtension course.” Gel-X® is a specific system and trademark associated with Aprés Nail. This course focuses on Soft Gel Tips techniques rather than training students specifically in the Aprés Gel-X® system.
This course focuses specifically on Soft Gel Tips. Builder gel, hard gel, and gel overlay are separate extension techniques built with forms rather than pre-shaped tips — if you’re interested in a builder gel nail course or a hard gel course, contact us and we can point you to the right training option or upcoming dates.
