This module is designed for working nail technicians who already have solid technical skills and want to build the client-facing side of the job.
It’s a good fit if you:
Not there yet? Start with the Russian Manicure Foundation Course. This module is designed to build on existing technique rather than teach the fundamentals from scratch.
Want to sharpen your technique too? Pair this with Speed Training or Cuticle Mastery.

This is not a technique class.
The module focuses on the client-facing situations that happen before, during, and after a nail service: understanding what a client actually wants, setting realistic expectations, communicating throughout the appointment, and handling problems when something does not go as planned.
You’ll work through practical client scenarios, including requests that need to be modified or declined, mistakes or unexpected issues during the service, unhappy clients, and conversations about rebooking or additional services.
The goal is not to give you a script for every situation. It is to help you develop a clearer approach to client communication so you can respond appropriately while keeping the conversation professional and natural.
Note: This is a specialized, single-topic skills module. It is not a state licensing program. Students receive a Certificate of Completion from Why Not Nails Academy.
Practical format: Scenario-based practice and instructor feedback, with the exact format confirmed when booking based on the selected training arrangement.
- Asking questions that clarify what the client actually wants
- Setting realistic expectations for timing, cost, maintenance, and results
- Recognizing requests that need to be modified or declined
- Explaining limitations and alternatives clearly and professionally
- Adjusting the consultation approach for new and returning clients
- Recognizing when a client wants conversation, quiet, or a more focused interaction
- Communicating clearly when an issue or mistake comes up during the service
- Explaining changes or limitations without creating unnecessary tension
- Recommending add-ons or home-care products without making the interaction feel like a sales pitch
- Responding professionally when a client is dissatisfied or frustrated
- Closing the appointment in a way that makes rebooking feel natural
- Discussing maintenance and the next appointment without pressure
- Following up after the service appropriately
- Handling complaints, redo requests, and post-appointment concerns
- Identifying communication habits that can affect the overall client experience

Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to:

The technical result is only one part of the client experience. Clients also have questions, preferences, expectations, and concerns that can come up before, during, or after the service.
Clearer communication can help you:

You’ll work through scenarios such as setting expectations with a new client, modifying or declining a request, addressing an issue during the service, handling dissatisfaction, recommending additional services or products, and discussing rebooking or follow-up.
Sales may be part of the discussion, particularly when it comes to recommending add-ons or home-care products, but the focus is broader. The module covers consultation, expectations, in-service communication, difficult conversations, rebooking, and follow-up.
